REPORT #7

#REPORT

Hey, Players. And Reapers, for those of you who made it this long. Yeah, I know. After weeks of you finding my scrap paper (and why the fuck was it hanging out in those places, what the fuck), I’m finally addressing you directly! But why was this one a fucking puzzle? Well, why did you try to fucking gouge my eyes out, jackasses. Now we’re even.

Anyway, FYI: this isn’t because I give a shit. I just think this is stuff you should know.

One of the first things I asked myself when I first was “invited” (dying isn’t an invite) to participate in the Game was “why the fuck is this a thing.” Like, yeah, okay, fucking awesome that we’re getting a second chance on the bullshit that is living, real nice, but why? No one does anything for free. Who gives the Composer their powers? How long has the Game been a thing? Etc, etc.

I was a curious and skeptical kid. What can I fucking say. We’re all very shocked by this.

I’ve got the answers now, but what I’m about to tell you is stuff that normal Reapers don’t know.
Ask your local Reapers. To be honest, even Conductors don’t usually learn this shit.

The Game has a purpose. It’s not giving people a second chance. I mean, it’s a neat bonus if it happens, for people who aren’t me, but that’s not what it’s about.

Now, either you found my paper about Souls or it’s fucking lost to the annals of time because I fucking hate this dimension, but let me tl;dr it. Every single living thing has Soul, Souls have power, power is not, in this instance, friendship, whatever. You get the gist. Souls go to recycling sometime. Like I said, if you wanted the tl;dr, you should’ve found my notes. Partially because I fucking want those back? Why did I even write these if they were going to be scattered to the winds. Who is fucking with my mail. Anyway, there’s the one thing Souls have that’s important: Imagination.

The capital is fucking necessary. I’m not talking about your daydreams here, people.

“Imagination is the key to the future”. That’s what I’ve been told. I can’t be more direct about it than that, but let me break it down a bit. The more Imagination around, the better. The Game is used to refine Imagination in Souls. The higher an Imagination, the more powerful a being. I’m sure this sounds vague as fuck to you, but I’m trying to simplify this shit for you idiots as much as I can. Imagination = Power. Games = More Imagination. Theoretically.

The thing is, reincarnation is an option in Games because Imagination can also be spread in different ways. So what happens when the Games stop being worth it when it comes to input/output for Imagination? If you stop getting something worthwhile out of it, is the idea of giving people a chance (however small) worth it?

I can’t answer that for you. I can’t spoon feed you all the answers.

This Composer is nothing like my own.

Not that it’s a bad thing, necessarily (I fucking hate my Composer, it’s a known fact), but they’re…let’s go with different. Is it a job requirement to be batshit insane and/or annoying before you become Composer? I kind of skipped that step, so let me know.

I’m fucking kidding. I don’t give a shit. Please don’t give me the full lecture about what makes a Composer.

As judge, I’m overseeing how every aspect of this Game is going. While the regular Game aspects are easy enough to evaluate, going over and reporting things you already know because I’m talking about your own actions VS the Composer’s posse sure has been one giant waste of my time. Not that my usual back and forth with anyone isn’t. I’m sure you’re all glad you promoted me to this station.

The truth is, both sides of this conflict are set in their beliefs. It’s entirely up to the Players which one succeeds.

At the start, I would’ve said good fucking luck to them, but… After a fucking awkward beginning, I think they’ve

Week 6; Monday

[ Monday afternoon, Hermann will notice writing in the back of his rulebook. It says: "Dr. Gottlieb! My meeting will take place at the ramen shop at 6 PM! There's tea and snacks, so don't be late!" ]

[ When he arrives at Isn't it Ramentic?, he'll find himself walking into a private room -- the door shuts and locks behind him. Inside is a reserved booth with a spread of ramen -- and tea and sandwiches, as well as leftover cake. ]

#REAPERS MEET WORLD

When it hits 07:00, the Reapers are probably expecting to be teleported into a shady corner to meet up with the Host again. It does not go quite like that though. Between one blink and the next, they will suddenly find themselves teleported from wherever they just were and to what seems to be a greenhouse. Strangely enough, if they peek through its various windows, none of the outside landscape looks familiar. What seems to be sunlight can sort of be made out in the distance, but there is a peculiar haze that makes figuring out how far away they are from it difficult. Despite this fog, the actual interior of the greenhouse is fairly brightly sunlit. They'll also notice a song playing from invisible speakers.

A striking difference since the last time you have all been here is the fact that there is now one long table that has party decorations along it and burgers. There's also cake that says "WELCOME!!!!!" on it. Wow.

Anthy and Maya are both at the table, both wearing party hats. They'll wave at everyone as they arrive, although one is noticeably more energetic than the other.

week 5, thursday

[ This is getting backdated since you don't know who is deda yet.

Between one blink and the next, Ranpo and Madara will suddenly find themselves in a greenhouse. If they try looking outside its glass windows, they'll notice that there is a strange haze that makes it impossible to tell the exact location, but the interior of the greenhouse is fairly bright, as if sunlight was shining through.

Everything in it seems fairly normal. There is a variety of plants, but primarily roses, as well as a small outside garden table. Still, strangely enough, there's also a... kotatsu? Well. Okay. ]

TRASH LETTER

My angel,

Did you enjoy my joke? [REDACTED] thought it was a little much, but if we can’t have a little fun despite the circumstances, then none of us will make it very far. I fear it might have been a little embarrassing for people to read though. I heard it got into some Players’ hands. Speaking of, so did your response to me. I luckily was able to retrieve it afterwards, but it was nothing that I did not already expect. It was nothing you have not already told me before.

I have had a lot of time to think these past few weeks. I will admit, that at the beginning, I had my doubts. All of the “pieces” chosen for this Game come from such a wide variety of places and have their own differing views that I wasn’t sure how it would all work out. I suppose that’s why you sent them to us though; it would be far too easy if everyone’s sense of morality matched up perfectly. Looking back now though, I realize I should not have been too quick to judge. Of course it would take time for them to reach out. In a Game that is purposefully structured to create mistrust, you must reach your hand out farther in order to conquer it.

The Reaper’s Game, as a whole, is flawed. I am not contesting that. But we can still try to create a middleground. If my Players can do this, then why can’t we?

Love,
C.

List of assets in use for the Game:

- Shibuya (Use of its likeness was pushed by its Composer. As one of the most impressive example of turnaround for a Game, especially of its size, the decision was made to use the bare bones of it. Because its Composer is a giant douchewaffle no one can stand, the decision was also made to keep him the fuck out of this.)

- Access to various locations from other Games. (Some are really fucking weird.)

- 30-odd Players from nearly as many Games. (Players were chosen based on their likelihood of winning back in their own Games. Also, I don’t remember the exact number, I’m not calling the Players weird. Though they are.)

- 10 Reapers. (Mostly low-ranking, newer-ish Reapers were chosen so as not to raise alarm.)

- Myself, as neutral party judge. You’re fucking welcome.

- And whatever obstacles it is you’re bringing to this party. It’s weird enough to be doing it on your turf. My role doesn’t allow me the luxury of knowing your side of the plan.

Any further requests or assets will be brought on by myself or the Composer.
