#REAPERS NOTE
Reapers! Shinigamis! Gods of deaths! Garbage people in hoodies! Those sure sound mysterious and intimidating, don’t they? Except, like. The last one. Fear not, dear players, for here is our very special Reaper explanation summary! Because the TWEWY wiki is used near extensively to explain pins, for some godforsaken reason. Also because we’re kind of streamlining this.

The short of it is that Reapers are enforcers of the Reaper’s Game. The team rocket grunts/henchmen that work under the Composer to make sure everything goes according to keikaku (note: keikaku means plan) in the Game. Basically, they’re following orders from the higher ups. You get it. But what is a Reaper? How do you become one? Why are Reapers?

Reapers happen when a Player goes through the game and when given the option, instead of choosing to be given a second chance at their potentially dull and boring life, they choose to become part of the Game they went through itself. This is not without benefits! Reapers, unlike Players, can go between the UG and RG (aka the realm of the dead and the realm of the living, if you wanna) at will, so Reapers can totally continue on living whatever bullshit life they were living before. Or even make a new one! They also get to keep those sweet psychic powers, can now control/summon Noise and gain sweet weird skeletal wings. Oh yeah and they’re like, kind of immortal.

Well, golly gee! You might ask. Why would anyone take regular old boring living when you could be basically a cool as fuck immortal with sick wings?

The downside is that you’re a permanent part of the Game. Every time a Game takes place, Reapers are at the beck and call of the Composer (or, well, his Conductor, because Reapers don’t get to talk to their boss, you stupid middling henchmen,,,,), which can mean anything! This can include putting up barriers to annoy Players, summoning Noise to get in their way or … well, erasing (that’s sweet Game talk for kill) them. Whatever is needed of you. Reapers can also be erased themselves, either by their fellow Reapers looking for a promotion* (rude, guys), Players who are pissed at the latest killer shark trap a Reaper’s laid out, or even from Noise if you suck! Or like, the Composer hates your guts some time and erases you, whichever. It’s a peculiar life.

So you got your downsides and your upsides. Now, for how this is relevant to the game! No, not The Game, I mean this murder game. In Reapsody, should you choose to accept to take on a role, there’s a possibility this means your character would be a Reaper! In which case, your character would become a bit of an AU version where they participated and won in a Game before and chose to be a Reaper. The details of the AU would totally be up to you (whether it affects your canon or not, when the initial death happened, who is your canon’s Composer even, if you want to go that far, etc), but that’s the big thing we ask you guys to take into consideration when accepting a role.

For your AU needs, I’ll also mention that all versions of the Reaper’s Game are different depending on the Composer, so your original Reaper role could be something as simple as sitting around giving dead people riddles to solve, it does not necessarily mean your character was a trigger happy murderfuck. Support class Reapers are valid too. The Game is just meant as a method for giving people a second chance at life, so. It’s also pretty scarce in general (it’s unusual to have it happen too often because a second chance at life is a Big Deal), so if you want, Reapsody can be their first official Game as a Reaper! The big AU clause is really just for your character to have previously played & won the Game & decided to become a Reaper. So, in summary: died, survived a Game, chose the obviously way cooler option of being undead forever.

But yeah otherwise it’ll play out exactly like a normal mafia game role. Murder! Just with a neat AU twist.

*A sidebar on promotion: often, getting a promotion in Reaper world just means you killed the guy who was higher up than you. You can also get it on your own merits, or via the higher up themselves being promoted! But, y’know. If there’s a vacancy. Death is kinda like working at Wal-Mart that way.
