#GRAVEYARD
Well, that sucked!

That might be your first thought when you open your eyes to find yourself in a lavishly decorated room with a nice, soft bed. Or maybe you’re thinking about something else, it doesn’t really matter, since the only important thing right now is that you’re alive. Sort of. You’re still dead, but you also still exist, so that’s better than nothing.

Whenever you decide to leave the room to venture out into the rest of the building, you’ll find that… hm. You sure have found yourself somewhere interesting, and there are plenty of places to explore. Foods from all of the weeks prior can be found in the hotel’s kitchen, as well as an entertainment center in the next room; just because you’re dead-dead doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun while the Reaper’s Game continues. Dare you try your luck with the ice cream machine in this weird place…? Or do you explore the mysterious board game that rests on the lobby’s table? Nothing’s stopping you.

You’re absolutely able to leave the hotel, by the way. As soon as you step outside, you’ll find yourself in whatever area is currently open to the remaining Players for the current week. The only thing is, in addition to being invisible to the shadowy denizens of the RG... it seems you can’t interact at all with your fellow active Players in the UG, either. Weird!

But that’s okay, you’re not totally alone in this limbo-squared! There are others around who you can interact with, and you might recognize them as the other people who have been Erased during the course of the game. In fact, there’s one rather special resident of this place... it’s none other than Dahlia Hawthorne. You might remember her as Utena Tenjou’s murderer from the first week! Upon seeing you, she smirks, welcoming you to the party.

“Did you really think you'd seen the last of me? Welcome to the Under-Underground—the loser’s playground, a failure like the rest of us,” she taunts, swirling the teacup in her hand with an almost gleeful look in her eyes. Then, as if to preempt whatever the new arrivals wish to respond with, she rolls her eyes and adds, “The stupid name wasn’t my choice, by the way. As if I’d choose something that dumb to preside over.”

If Reapers are meant to be villains you're certainly a compelling one. I didn't expect you to be so understanding.

[ Considering her own experiences with his group :/ ]

I suppose you truly did care for him.. that alone makes it difficult to hate you. We have both that and he fact that we failed him in common.

[The smile he offers her is weak, but an attempt to be reassuring--for her sake. He doesn't think she failed him nearly as badly.]

I know there was Light in him. Even if he killed his master. [Terra understands more than anyone.] He tries to be the monster he thinks he is, but it's not true.

I think he'll be okay, if he just remembers.

You don't have to cry anymore. He wouldn't want you to.

If we all gave into that man's whims this game would have finished in flames and blood that first week.

[ But she knows he's right about the crying though. It's a pathetic display in the face of all Shinssin has done for her. ]

But I'm apt to agree, he's no monster— just a man who's never been given a chance.

[ sniff ]

As grateful as I am for the polite conversation, I do hope you realize that if our goals don't align I will be hard pressed to be polite much longer.

[Damn, Eleanor. Mean.]

No one bothered to try to understand our goals. Why do you think our goals would be any different?

[ A very slow, eyebrow raise. ]

One of your cohorts tried to torture me and burn me alive— if understanding is what you lot seek, you're not doing your best to earn it.

[ y'all need better PR?? ]

Your friend screamed about the same at me earlier— are you all ever going to share your goals, or do we need to figure out a way to read your minds?

[Wow. He didn't witness it, but he can make a fucking good guess.]

We're not all like Junko. I wouldn't agree with how she does things. I'm sorry. [rip they do...] There were a lot of you convinced we were monsters. It's hard to be honest when that's the case.

Getting rid of us means the rest of you "win," but then you all have to decide who returns home. It wasn't much different from my last Game. Six of us remained, but only five could go back.

[ Finally, some good fucking food (information) ]

If you are going to harm the innocent, you shouldn't be surprised when we pass judgment.

[ There's no severity in her tone though, she's not gonna yell at someone who's actually being helpful. Not when there's still people on the other side who she wants to win. ]

Is it always five who are allowed to return? Or does that vary depending on the circumstances?

If you had to erase some to save everyone, would you do it?

[It's more of a rhetorical question for her to ponder.]

I don't know. I'm starting to see... every Game is different. There are different rules. Some of us had Games that weren't about erasure at all.

There's something more. There has to be. I wasn't seeing it all back home either. Everything with Xehanort, Ven, Vanitas. In my last Game, hunting the ones erasing down on my own without thinking.

I'm going to try to talk to the Composer. The one who made all of this.

Ah, so you have them at your disposal.

[ Granted, he'd still ended up here. She's not sure how much an advantage being able to speak to the composer really is. ]

My goal, first and foremost, is making sure as many people as possible can leave this game with the second chance they deserve. If yours is the same I'm not above aiding you.

[ ... ]

To answer your question— yes, I think I might. But I would not expect understanding or sympathy. If anything could deem anyone a monster, then it would be to ask for understanding when you've robbed someone of their autonomy. Some jobs are simply thankless.
darkearth: <user name=terra-melos site=livejournal.com> (im full of softness and love)

[personal profile] darkearth 2018-03-30 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Terra will remember that.

He's quiet for a long moment, thinking it over.]
You're right. All I can do is ask for forgiveness. [But not be surprised if he doesn't get it.]

None of us know who the Composer is. Max, Maya, Dahlia... I don't know if they know or not. Maybe they've never seen them in person.

I want to ask them how to send everyone back.

Well, your kind seems to have a better time getting information than we do.

[ Gestures vaguely at Dahlia ]

Grudges are for the living, if you can help me make sure that those who remain receive the hope they deserve, then I have no qualms with you. None of us have anything to lose ourselves— but we are unified in failure it seems.

[ a pause ]

I don't think you a monster. Truthfully, I'm sympathetic to your cause. Perhaps not your group as a whole, but you individually.
darkearth: <user name=terra-melos site=livejournal.com> (me flirting: i dont want you to die)

[personal profile] darkearth 2018-04-01 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? [It's a little off-topic for the moment, but he's so curious after everything he's been through--not just here, or the last Game, but in his own world. The path he took. The people he trusted.

He doesn't sound mocking, only interested.]
How are you able to say you're sympathetic with me, but not to someone else? What do you find different?

When you speak to me, you treat me as an equal.

[ she says, a bit flatly. ]

Your cohorts when interacting with me, have been sociopaths and children with victim complexes. If sympathy was what you all wanted, then they should have been more like you— they should have forged human connections with as many of us as possible.

My master taught me to be respectful of others. The Light inside of you won't be able grow if Darkness gets stronger with anger and hate. Saving everyone... It isn't about erasing, I don't think.

It's about working together.

I wish we could have made Xehanort understand. He didn't have to give into the Darkness to be strong, to win. I didn't either. I know that now.

I want the ones left to know that, too.
