Hello everyone! As you may or may not remember, a few months ago we put up an informal interest check for a murdergame based on The World Ends With You. This is it! The official interest check for

reapsody, a mafia/murder mystery inspired game that is tentatively aiming to run from March 3rd to April-May. (The game should end in early May, since we're aiming for about eight weeks, but as we know, Sometimes... Murder Happens.)

The game is initially invite only, to people who are on the friend lists of

rainbowlasers,

gatcha,

sippycup, and

rainfell. If you are only on Sipp’s list, you need to check with her before you reserve, due to the size of her list. If you reserve without asking Sipp first, you will not be allowed to app. You can ask her by messaging her or the mod account on plurk or sending us a PM. However, only the partner who is placing the reserve needs to be on our lists! Example: Goku and Snoop both want to join the game, but only Goku has Francia added. However, since Goku and Snoop are partnering up their characters, both of them will be able to get in the game. If there are still spaces open after two days, the game will be open to the public. More details for this are on our reserve page. Right now, we're looking at about 40 spots (for a total of twenty non-mod partnerships), but if the interest is high enough, we're willing to go all the way up to 50 (for a total of twenty-five non-mod partnerships), because we hate ourselves and love to die. And/or love you? I'm not sure.

The premise of the game is that your character has died in their canon (in a way you get to pick and that they will remember)! That's a bummer. Luckily for them, they have been chosen to participate in an iteration of the Reaper's Game, a game where the reward for winning is getting a second shot at life. This version of the Reaper's Game is a variety of hide and seek! Players will be encouraged to find the Reapers (mafia) hiding in their midst as they struggle to survive the full length of the game, while facing a variety of challenges, solving mysteries, and facing the possibility of "erasure", which is just a fancy way to say Dying But Like For Real. All of this while being partnered up with someone else and having their (un)lives depend on them! The Reaper's Game is fun like that. The game will be set in the city of Shibuya! Sort of! Don't question that too much. The important thing is you're in a city.

The full game info page has all the information you might need, but to break it down for the sake of tl;dr:

1. Powers will be nerfed, although you will gain a dedicated power you can pick out from a list. To that end, you also get to bring exactly one item with you! If it has powers, those are also nerfed. No cheating.
2. There is no age limit. Same goes for humans-- so long as whoever you wish to play is alive and can die or be argued to have a soul (in the case of robots) you can app them! We will probably make something like a Transformer go smaller though. You need to be able to enter buildings.
3. If you don't have a partner by the time you reserve, we will do our best to pair you up with someone else! We'll also try to pair up people in this interest check to that end, since apps do need to have the partner section filled. But anyone who reserves without a partner will be assigned one before applications.
4. It's preferable for you to app a character who would want that second chance at life. We're not saying no to suicidal or self-sacrificial characters so long as they'd play along, but if your character absolutely would not want to play for a chance to live, it might be good to consider someone else! Both for your ease and ours.
5. There is a franchise cap of 3 characters per canon! On that note, while it is perfectly acceptable to partner-app with someone from your same canon, partner pairs do not need to be from the same canon. You will not need to come up with an IC explanation for how they ended up partners, so mix and match to your heart's content!
6. This game will contain both detectives and mafia (who will be ICly referred to as "Reapers"). This isn't to say that only Reapers get to murder/be the "bad guy", or that non-faction people won't have anything to do! There will be weekly events for everyone even outside of trials, and IC incentives will be given for regular Players to murder one another. We love death and dying just as much you do.
